Matt Ryerson
Non-Profit Leadership
President and CEO, United Way, Cleveland, TN
Matt Ryerson puts the community first in everything he does. According to Ryerson, he has “the privilege of waking up every day thinking about how we can make our community better. He has been serving as the President and CEO with the United Way of the Ocoee since January of 2012 and been with the organization since January 2009. He is formerly the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the United Way state association, United Ways of Tennessee, and was appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to the Board of Directors for Volunteer Tennessee. He has been appointed to the National Professional Council (NPC) as a direct advisor to the Chairman of the United Way Worldwide President and Board of Directors and is now a member of the United Way National Presidents Roundtable, one of only 15 United Way CEO’s appointed nationally.
Through his leadership, he has taken United way to an entirely new level. By providing a series of non-profit professional development seminars, he is teaching others to up their game and help them to learn how to “teach others to fish” rather than just providing short term help. The non-profit incubator at United Way is nurturing new innovative agencies to grow and develop.
Impact Cleveland has already branched out on their own to form a new Community Development Corporation that will have a lasting impact on the community they serve.
Ryerson, and his wife, Heather, have one son, Jackson, and three daughters, Chloe, Gabi Rae, and Elsie.
