Dr. William Johnson

Healthcare

Chief Medical Officer, Tennova Healthcare, Cleveland, TN

Dr. Bill Johnson has always made the decision to put his community first no matter where he may be—whether in Cleveland or even as far as Central America. Johnson served generations of local citizens through his extensive surgical practice. But beyond that, he has been an inspirational model for others to follow. Twenty-eight years ago, he began to use his talents as a doctor, surgeon and humanitarian to help those less fortunate in Central America. Starting in Guatemala with a medical clinic and an orphanage, he and his wife, Jackie, have established a medical clinic and numerous water purification systems in rural areas of Honduras. Twice a year, they travel with a team of local volunteers to Honduras where their dedication to those less fortunate is a living testimony to how one person can make a difference in the world.

On one of the early trips to Honduras, Bill and Jackie met a young girl named Kattia who had a heart condition. They arranged for her needed medical care, brought her to the U.S. and adopted her. In 2014, Kattia graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan and is currently studying to be a lawyer in Honduras.

Johnson, and his wife, Jackie, are members at Broad Street Methodist Church. They have three children, Missy, Shelley, and Andy.
