Born and raised in Bradley County, Brenda Lawson has always felt the need to give back to the community who supported her.
In addition to having a series of successful businesses, Lawson has also been heavily involved in her community serving as Past President of Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, Past Capital Funds Campaign Co-Chair for United Way of Bradley County and a member of the Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation.
In addition, she has served many years as the Chairman of the Board of the Cleveland 100, an organization that seeks to honor the policemen and first responders, as well as those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. She also started DiaperLove of Bradley County to assist moms who could not afford to purchase diapers for their babies. She is most known for her generous spirit at Christmas time in organizing an effort to make sure every child in Bradley County has a good holiday by calling on volunteers to shop and plan a huge party for these children. In addition to the Brenda Lawson Athletic Center housed at UTK, the Cleveland Family YMCA now has a Brenda Lawson Youth Center. Lawson has also joined forces with Volley for a Cure to provide a luncheon speaker for all of the local breast cancer survivors to enjoy a time of celebration.
Brenda is married to Stan Lawson. She has one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Beth McKenzie, one daughter and son-in-law, Anthony and Ashley Wallace, one grandson, Tripp and one step-son, Zack.
